DHX - Breaking Alert
5/22/2023
Subject: Tropical Storm Mawar
Dear Valued Customer:
We at DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express regret to inform you that Tropical Storm Mawar has been upgraded to typhoon status, prompting closures of our Guam Terminal, the Port of Guam, and Matson’s Guam office. All will remain closed until the storm passes.
According to the latest Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecast, the storm should reach Guam just past noon on Wednesday, May 24, as a Category 3-equivalent system.
Maunawili V234W is currently sheltering about 150 miles outside Guam, awaiting the storm to pass, and will be the first vessel into Guam once the port reopens.
Pending improvements in the weather conditions, we intend to reopen the Guam operations as soon as possible.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with updates should weather conditions dictate change.
Should you have additional questions, please contact your local office, or our Corporate Customer Service Center at 800-488-4888, Ext. 2020, or email us at [email protected].
Thank you for your patience and your business- we appreciate it!
